My first and for most advice is to consult with a mother or sister, they may have has similar experiences and will be glad to assist you to not go threw discomfort. I recommend trying teen-sized tampons or slim tampons (marketed as such). I think that a slim plastic applicator is easier for a girl to use than tampons without an applicator or with a cardboard applicator. Also, a bit of lubricating jelly placed on the tip of the applicator may make the insertion easier at first.( to avoid infection do not use Vaseline, or other oils) A tampon properly inserted will not be felt. some young girls experience issues in removal again a small amount of lubricating jelly can assist. if you have tried several times your vaginal area may be irritated and swelled, give yourself a break before you try again I hope this helps
