How Does Abrupt Break In Gabapentin Intake Affect An Individual?

What can I do if I ve abruptly run out of Gabapentin, a medication that I take 3 times a day for seizures, and nerve damage? I m not supposed to just stop taking it. It s supposed to be tapered. But, I don t have any refills left, and I no longer have a neurologist or GP because of my insurance. But, I m already having a very bad reaction to not taking this medication.

Hi,

If you are taking gabapentin for seizures, never stop abruptly. Consult your physician. After thorough examination and investigations he might reduce the dose or change the molecule. Sudden stop might initiate seizures again.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilyas Patel,
