Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my daughter is in the hospital with dengue fever. then i saw 2 mosquitos inside the room. my questions are: 1. if the mosquito bites her first then bites me next, will i get dengue too? 2. what are the chance that she'll get another dengue strain from this particular mosquito bite?
There are chances that one who gets bitten may get Dengue, mostly from ades mosquito.Since its viral infection, one should be carefull.3-14days post bite one will usualy present with fever.Only 5%will have severe life threatening condition rest will not have so much of symptoms. There is every chace that the mosquito can carry other strain but usually immunity will take care, unless one falls into that 5% as mentioned.Using mosquito repellents might help.
