Hi,

Most non-obese women with the polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) are also insulin-resistant, suggesting that insulin resistance, hyperinsulinemia, or the combination of the two are causative or contribute to the ovarian pathophysiology in PCOS in both obese and lean individuals.

In obese women with PCOS, weight loss or treatment with insulin-sensitizing drugs often restores normal menses. Metformin is an insulin sensitizer. Hence you have been prescribed Obimet SR.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
