How Effective Is Nostril Surgery And What Would Be The Cost?
My right nostril is blocked, because my nose is shifting towards the right. I have breathing problem from my right nostril. The doctor prescribed nasal drops and antibiotic medicines but they didn't work. Finally he suggested an operation where the surgeon would straighten the bone, thus freeing the right nostril. How effective is this surgery and what would be the cost?

Dear jc49d Hello I am Dr Ravinder Sharma ENT surgeon. On the basis of the info provided it appears that you are suffering from Deviated nasal seprum with external deformity. As you have consulted an ENT surgeon and you have been advised surgery I assume septorhinoplasty is indicated in your case. The results of this surgery are pretty good. Sometime patient may have some minor problems of adhesions, crusting, nose bleed ets in post op period. But they can be easily managed and treated. The cost of surgery depends on the place of treatment. In can tell you about north india .--- It will range from 15 to 20 thousand in a small city and may go upto 60 to 80 thousand in a corporate hospital. There are numerous causes for blocked nose apart from deviated nasal septum (DNS). It could be blocked due to polyps, enlarged turbinates, sinusitis, failed septal correction after septal surgery or any other mass in the nose. You need a thorough nasal examination by ENT doctor and if needed nasal endoscopy to know the cause and site of nasal blockage.

Sinusitis is an infection of the para nasal sinuses that occurs due to obstruction or bacterial growth. Among the many causes of such obstruction or congestion are common cold, allergies, certain medical conditions, and abnormalities in the nasal passages. Sinusitis develops as follows:

Bacteria are the most common direct cause of acute sinusitis. The ability of bacteria or other agents to infect the sinuses, however, must first be set up by conditions that create a favorable environment in the sinus cavities. The cause for chronic sinusitis cases are sometimes unclear.

there may be some growth in ur nostril which is bloking the airway there are some beningn tumours too but its the severe problem...if u have any swelling go for check up or if u have deviated nasal septum u may need surgery for it

my right nostril gets blocked and this gets shifted to the left simultaneously by sleepiping any of the side i have a heavyness or burning sensation in my eye
