How Harmful Is "Persistent Fluid Signal Within The Mastoid Air Cells On Left" While Being Deaf From Left?
Hello. My recent MRI states: "persistent fluid signal within the mastoid air cells on the left which was seen before (in past MRI). I am deaf in left ear, nerve damage. Can this fluid cause damage to hearing nerve and hearing loss? I have been deaf in that ear since childhood.
The MRI report suggest some inflammatory fluid in your mastoid air cells, which is an usual finding when the middle ear gets infected. This dose not signifies any relation between the deafness from childhood and present fluid in mastoid. More ever the 1 st MRI of your's might have been done some weeks before , so the report PERSISTENT denotes the fluid for the specified period.
You should get worried, if your ENT surgeon says that there is some pathology behind your drum. Hence you should consult a good ENT specialst for the same.
I hope I could solve your query. Please do not hesitate to clarify more doubts for the same situation.
