Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I got a blood test .. the result below WBC = 8,750 cells/cmm (4,000 - 11,000 cells/cmm) Neutropils = 50% (40-70%) Lymphocytes = 44% (20-40%) Eosinopils = 06% (02 - 06%) Basoplin = NIL (0-1%) RBC, Platelets counts are also normal level. But Lymphocytes is bit increased level and Monocytes is NIL.This makes me to worry. I am not taking any medication/therapy. I am much concern about monocytes is NIL. Due to Monocytes is 0, my body will not fight with any viral or bactrial infections? and does not produce antibodies if any infection exists? I am confused a lot.. pls help me to understand. Thanks..
HI Well come to HCM In my opinion the important is clinical sign and symptoms, although this is not the problem if there is no monocytes finds in the peripheral smear this is not the absolute condition of absent of monocytes, and this is nothing to worry, again if you do not have any clinical symptoms then forget about this or else correlate the report with it, hope this helps.
