Hi & Welcome.
I can understand your concern regarding the efficacy and safety of the prescribed medications.
Telma-40 & Prolomet-XL are commonly prescribed for the effective control of
high blood pressure. They differ in the way how they reduce the high blood pressure.
1. Telma 40 (
Telmisartan) is an
angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It works by relaxing blood vessels, which helps to lower blood pressure.
Its common side effects include include
dry cough, swelling of the lips and eyes, and low blood pressure.
2. Prolomet XL 50 (Extended release formulation
Metoprolol) is a beta-blockers which affects the heart and circulation (blood flow through arteries and veins) thus reducing the high blood pressure. Generally it is a safe medicine however it may cause decreased heart beats, fatigue, cold and clammy skin, impotency, breathlessness, etc.
Hope to have answered your query.
A feedback is appreciated.
