How Is Amitriptyline Effective For Back Spasms?
Good Evening, I'm curious to know how Amitriptyline HCI 25mg (Elavil), commonly prescribed as an anti-depressant, can be an effective RX, for muscle sprains\spasms in your back. The Rx is for 30 days, and the injury is severe right now, but should heal within a week or so. I'm more so curious if this is the type of anti-depressant they warn you that you cannot just stop taking when the Rx is empty........

It is very effective drug to treat depression.
It is also used for muscle sprain pain, neuropathic pain and lack of sleep.
The medicine is started in low doses that is 25 milligrams twice a day and slowly build up to get full control of depression or other symptoms.
This medicine is a prescription drug and should not be taken by self medication.
It is started by a clinician, so dose adjustment also should be done by a clinician and of course any attempt to stop it should also be done under clinicians supervision.
