How Is Ventricular Fibrillation Treated With A Laser Procedure?
My dad is in the hospital for ventricular fibrillation. Doctor is trying oral med first if doesn't work then surgery, which entails laser and shocking his heart. I was looking for information on this procedure. Have not found anything regarding the laser procedure.
VENTRICULAR FIBRILLATION is a life threatening arrhythmia of the hearts conduction system. Treatment options include oral ANTI ARRYTHMIC drugs, if they fails to control the arrhythmia then it requires an INVASIVE procedure known as EPS and RFA which in layman's term is sometimes called as laser treatment. EPS is Electrophsiological study in which the focus from where the abnormal rhythm is getting generated is found and then it is ABLATED (Destroyed) By RFA (Radio Frequency Ablation). The ablation is done by heat generated from medium frequency alternating current. Patients recovers fully and the long term results are good.
Good Luck
