How Long Can A Person Live With 10% Of Their Heart Working?

Can a person live with 10% of their heart working. Has defibrillator. No heartaches. In afib. On meds to improve heart function. Real weak. No appitite. Kidneys not functioning too good. Passes out often. Talked about transplant, maybe heart pump. Nothing has been approved. He is a VA. WHAT are the chances of his survival as of to day. Can t walk far with out being out of breath. From car to house. About 20ft. Can you give me an idea of what to expect. This is my step dad.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

As per the description, it is indicating the survival of a few days or as long as a couple of weeks.

But still, till the time, vital parameters will support the system, mortality can be unpredictable.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel,
General Surgeon
