How Long Can One Use Contraceptive Patch To Prevent Pregnancy?
Hi I was wondering if you could help me with something related to the evra contraception patch. I was meant to change my patch on Monday but forgot too and I had sex on Tuesday night with my boyfriend and he didn t pull out fast enough, I have changed my patch today (Thursday) as I didn t get to make it to a pharmacy yesterday to get more patches. Should I get the morning after pill or does the patch still cover me even though i went over the 7 days? Also the patch I had on on Monday was the last one in the box but I m going straight on to a new box and having my period at the start September is that ok? Kind regards
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. Contraceptive patches will offer no protection after expiry. If you have started to use it again after a gap, there is always a risk of getting pregnant when you have unprotected intercourse. It is better to use emergency contraceptive pill (morning after pill) in such a situation. In any case, once you get your periods, it states that you are not pregnant for that cycle. Hence, kindly take proper measures next time if you don't want to become pregnant. Hope the information provided would be useful. All the best.
