How Long Difficulty In Swallowing Take To Reduce Having Diagnosed With Fundoplication?
My husband underwent diagnostic laproscopy for hernia & fundoplication & surgery stopped midway because for cirrosis liver, now he is not able to swallow food since they indulged rice tube hoping post treatment for fundoplication, how long will this swallowing problem persists or should we take second opinion to find out whether they have damaged eosophagus as a result of rice tube
Noted the history about your husband having livercirrhosis, operated laparoscopic hernia and fundoplication but surgery stopped midway to to cirrhosis, put in Ryle's tube but he is unable to swallow anything. Yes, take a second opinion but before that consult the Team of Doctors who operated and Medical Specialists as they know the case well and can find the cause of the present symptoms better. I would advise in addition the following: Barium studies. Upper GI Endoscopy. Full evaluation for cirrhosis so that a proper management can be done. If the first line of management does not help then only to go for second opinion. As you know the multiple problems take tie to get proper evaluation, change the prognosis time by time and thus management may change from time to time.
