How Long Does Metformin Take To Clear From The System?

How long does it take for Metformin to clear the system after stopping taking it? I ve been taking Metformin off-label for a year. 500mg at bedtime. In past couple months I switched to taking it with dinner. It was part of a alternative cancer treatment protocol that successfully shrank my papillary thyroid carcenoma to 1mm. My MD recommended that I stay on it to prevent cancer from ever reoccurring. I thought it was risk-free except for the need for additional B vitamins. But I m starting to have weird symptoms and wonder if it s due to the Metformin. I will stop the Metformin but how long does it take to clear the system. I m not diabetic. I m 5 5 120lbs, very fit and healthy 53 year old mom. The symptoms are dark yellow urine that has a strong sweet smell and I m experiencing an inability to remember the last hour of the evening when drinking wine. My husband says I wasn t acting drunk. I typically drink 3 glasses of wine over 3 hour period - something I ve always been able to tolerate without getting tipsy. The blackouts are increasing in frequency. I took a week off alcohol and then tried again last night and cannot remember the last hour before bed. Certainly I will cut back on the wine, but that doesn t help with the urine. I had a moderate carb lunch and yet I just peed on a Ketone Test Strip and it shows a trace of ketone - the color is similar to when I followed a Ketogenic Diet in the past. Urine pH is 5.5 or very acidic.
