How Long Does A Viral Fever Last?

Hi Doctor,
I would like to know how long does a viral fever last? My fever goes up to 101.5 F and then i take advil. Can you explain how does the virus gradulally eliminate / leave the body ? At what point should i start antibiotics to prevent any bacterial infection.
What diet will help me with quick recovery other then lot of rest and plenty of fluids.

Most fevers with viruses last for 2 to 3 days, but sometimes they can last as long as 2 weeks.

keep your diet light and healthy.
Drink lots of water throughout the day, to keep the body hydrated.
Foods rich in Vitamin E and Vitamin C should be consumed.
Vegetarian food is a preferred option.
