How Long Does It Take For A Fractured Toe To Heal Completely?
Hi, I broke my second toe three weeks ago and I ve been taping it together with my big toe and third toe, I ve also been wearing a rigid toe for walking. My toe feels much better although it still hurts on and off. Do you think I can drive now or should I wait a little longer. How long does it take for a toe fracture to heal completely? Thank you
Simple toe fractures usually heal well with no problems. The healing time for broken toes usually is take about six weeks to heal. The pain should diminish gradually if the bone is healing properly. In your case, considering that your toe feels much better, I can deduct that it is healing fast and properly.
This means that you should be able to walk and resume most non-strenuous activities like driving. Anyway, my advice is to talk with your treating orthopedist about all the activities you can do during your healing time.
If problems last longer than six weeks, another X-ray may be needed, or the injury should be rechecked by the doctor to evaluate how the bone is healing.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Elona Xhardo, Endocrinologist
