How Long Does It Take Lips To Heal After Having The Stitches?

My husband was in a car accident and the inside of his lip split. The doctors decided to give him 3 stitches that were supposed to devolve on their own. It has now been 8 days since the incident. The stitches are not disolving and it almost seems as if his skin is beginning to grow over them. He is in more pain now than he has been. Should we try to snip the stitches and gently pull them out with tweezers being that his lip is healed?? He is on pennacilin to prevent infection.

Hi
Most dissolvable stitches start to break down within one to two weeks. However, it could take several months before your stitches disappear completely. After the wound has healed, it may be possible for a nurse to remove the loose ends of the dis-solvable stitches, to speed up the process

do not get panicked
wishing him good health
