How Long Does It Take To Heal Metatarsal Fracture?

I had fracture on my 5th metatarsal and the doctor attending to me has put a back slab, i want to know if this injury can cause blood clot and what should i do to check for blood clot. i also would want to know how long it will take for the fracture to heal.
