How Long Does It Take To Heal Swollen Lips After A Mohs Surgery On Upper Lips?
I had Mohs surgery just above my upper lip this past Tuesday. My lips blew up like balloons! They seem slightly better today. I am not talking, eating pudding and applesauce with a baby spoon on the good side of my mouth and taking advil every 4 hours. My lip where the stitches are is super sore. Any thoughts on when this might subside?
I can understand your concern. As you have been through the surgery, swelling and pain in the operated area are expected as a post-operative consequence of any surgery. The are of sutures is also expected to be sore.
I would advise you to continue the medicines prescribed and remain on soft diet till initial healing phase is achieved. It might take 7-10 days for the swelling to resolve completely and for the stitches area to heal and be less sore. There is nothing to worry about as long as the medications prescribed gives you relief from pain.
However, if the bleeding starts from the surgical area, swelling increases immensely or if you develop fever, treating doctor should be seen. You can apply ice to the swollen area to feel better.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
