Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been diagnosed with pericarditis. Treatment is ibuprofen and colchicine. I still am extremely tired, get light headed when playing tennis and chest hurts worse. Shortness of breath is common most of the day, but worse when up around- not just when exerting. Feels like I need to yawn to get full breath. Upon orgasim I will actually panic while trying to catch my breath. How long will this take to get over? EKG and electrocardiogram 10 days ago did not show effusion.
Hi, Thanks for your question. I do understand your pain and discomfort. As per your history is concerned there is no time limit of healing normally 2-6 week maximum.Take rest and do not do heavy exercise like playing tennis.Remember that your inflammation has not been healed so far. Discuss with your doctor to add steroid (prednisone) along with present drug. I hope I was able to address your query. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to write to me. Wishing you all the best. Thanks
