How Long Does The Fractured Trochanter Bone Take To Heal?

My doctor broke my greater trochanter during my hip replacement surgery. He fixed the fracture at both ends with circling wires . I have been on crutches for 3 months and my life has come to a standstill. Before this I was an active male skiing, biking and hiking I can t do anything now Latest X-ray shows bone is just starting to form on one end of the fracture. How often does this complication happen and how long is this going to take to heal?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It happens sometimes, but if your primary problem was a hip fracture, a fracture of the trochanter (minor or major) should not impair movement, but it may cause some pain. Three months is a long time, I suggest you see an orthopedic surgeon for a follow-up.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Anders Mark Christensen
