How Long Does The Meth Content Leave The Body Completely?
a friend of mine is in the hospitol right now about to give birth and she very stupidly smoked meth withen the last 24 to 48 hours i guess. my question is do all hospitols check every baby for drugs, how long does it take to get out of your system, and what will the docters do if the test comes back positive?
Not all newborn babies are screened for drugs in all hospitals unless drug abuse is known through history or suspected in the mother. If there are signs of toxicity in the newborn then it may be tested. Smoked methamphetamine can be detected by tests for upto 3 days. Other factors like duration, frequency and doseage of drug intake also play a role.
If the test comes back positive, the doctors will look for any signs of toxicity or withdrawal in the baby to ensure safety of the child. If an addiction is found in the mother then detoxification will be advised. Depending on the chances of harm to the baby, and the prevailing law in the country, child protection services may be contacted.
Hope your query is answered Dr Anjana Rao Kavoor
