How Long Does The Side Effect Of Morphine Sulfate Remains?

hello and good evening, my husband was diagnosed with cancer and given 15 mg morphine sulfate ir, he took 1 tablet at 3:40 am on 4/28 and he slept All day and is still sleepy but can t stay asleep for more than 2 hours, how long will the tablets side effects last to where he feels normal again

Hi,

Morphine is in a class of medications known as opiate analgesics. After taking a dose, the effects begin within 15 to 60 minutes and last 4 to 6 hours. Extended-release formulas are designed to deliver the dosage in stages so the effects last longer, for 12 to 24 hours.

Morphine has a short half-life, with half of it metabolized in 1.5 to 7 hours. Most of a single dose of morphine has been eliminated in the urine within 72 hours.
