What would cause my surgical wound to still not be healed? I had toe surgery 2 weeks and 2 days ago and 6 days post op 3 of the 6 stitches broke so I went for an emergency appointment my doctor chose to put steri strips in place. It continued to bleed 3-4 days after wards, there was also fluid leaking to that is blood tinged. At my two week appointment they took out the rest of the stitches and put steri strips. Part of the wound mostly the part where the stitches broke wasn t closed and leaked fluid with slightest pressure. He swabbed it and sent it for culture. I am just trying to figure out at just a few days past 2 weeks post op why isn t the incision closed and healed yet? What is leaking out of my foot.. Whatever is once the guaze gets wet enough from it, it gets uncomfortable and sometimes itchy so I have to change it out for some dry fresh gauze. Any idea what could be going on here?
