How Long It Takes To Feel Physically And Emotionally Normal After Having Open Salpingo-oophorectomy And Abdominal Hysterectomy?
Hi, It's been8 days since l had a open salpingo-oophorectomy & an abdominal hysterectomy. When will I start feeling physically & emotionally better? After being released from the hospital, I returned to ER because I felt like I was dying. It was a reaction to the morphine. I'm now on anti-anxiety drugs. I just want to feel normal again. The reason for the hysterectomy was I had utereus cancer.
Hello, The period of physical recovery from the surgery usually lasts for about a month, but psychological recovery is based on your original psyche. Please remember, your surgery was not an unusual one, nor your condition. You will get over it in due course of time. Try to meditate, practice yoga and breathing exercises and also concentrate on doing things you like most like reading books, listening to music etc. You may also take counselling sessions if you wish, they usually help. Wish you good health.
