How Long Mifeprostone Tablet Take To Act And After Abortion, When Should Urine Be Tested To Confirm?

hello doctor
i gave mifeprostone tablet to my wife 24 hrs ago,but the pains are not starting yet...the menstural period is from 15 to 15.we already check the urine ,the result is +ve...what should i do now.should i go for the tablet misoprostol of wait for another 24 hrs..

secondly after abortion ,for how many days the urine shows +ve test for pregnancy.

Hello,

1) Mifepristone tab may take up to 48 hrs to act and she needs to take other medicine like Misoprostol with proper dose to complete the abortion procedure after consultation with local doctor. It may take 7 days to resolute completely.

2) Post pill abortion, one ultrasound scan is required to check for retained bits and placental tissue. Follow-up examination and D & C may be needed in that case. Kindly, consult with your doctor.

3) It is seen that beta-hCG level comes down to normal within 4 to 6 weeks in completed abortion.
