Hi I am 54 years old and have recently been diagonised with epilepsy since 4th of nov 2010. All tests concerning the heart are normal. I do not suffer from any other ailment -and am on no medication whatsoever. I lead a very active life. EEG is normal, MRI brain suggests Rathkes cleft cyst. Put onto EPILIVE 500 3 times a day. My question - what are the long time effects of the medication and for what duration will I have to be on medication.
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, anti-epileptic medicines are well tolerated and does not cause any serious side effect unless have history of sensitivity of the drug, ideally if you are suffering from epilepsy then this need to be treated for long time no specific period is there, but this could be stop intermittently, (This is not advisable without complete clinical examination ) to see the natural remission, have a nice day.
