OK.... I HAD A SKIN GRAFT FROM MY THIGH TO MY ABDOMEN, IN WHICH A WOUND VAC WAS USED SINCE JULY, FROM A VENTRAL HERNIA..........AND THE SKIN WAS TRANSFERRED TO MY ABDOMEN, AND THE WOUND VAC WAS PUT ON OVER THE SKIN GRAFT, HOW LONG WILL I HAVE TO CONTINUE TO USE THIS CUMBERSOME WOUND VAC

Hi,

I can understand your conern for the skin grafted wound and its covering.

IN general, the wound the skin graft takes its full strength in two months of period. Till that time we need to take care of the wound completely with different aids. After two months as the healing is complete in all sense so there is no need of any type of covering over the graft.

You can show your grafted area to the operating surgeon and let the area be examined physically. If at all the grafted area is weak then accordingly you can use the covering otherwise can stop using it.
