How Long Should One Take Flucloxacillin To Treat Bartholin Cyst?

Hi I have a question. I v been to see the doctor due to swelling around my viginal area. The doctor told me it was bartholin cyst. I v been prescribed with flucloxacillin which I have to take 4 times a day. However my doctor didn t tell me how long I should wait until I see results. I v been taking my medication as adviced, however I see no results & the pain is quite hard to handle. So my question is what other options do I have to get better quicker as I feel the medication prescribed to me is not showing any progress and the pain is hard to handle.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my surgical experience, the amount of pain and agony is unbearable and hence the medicines are not effective against possible developing or developed abscess. After clinical confirmation, I would recommend to undergo a surgical procedure called incision and drainage of the pus with excision of the Bartholin cyst to get best results without hurdles.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
