Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Polymyositis is considered to be an autoimmune disease, treatment duration depends on the remission of disease though there are high chances of recurrences and relapse after stopping of treatment. Usually, it takes 2 months to a year treatment for the patient to start regaining his/her muscle strength back depending upon the severity of inflammation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rohan Shanker Tiwari, Orthopedic Surgeon
