How Long The Hole In Lung Take To Heal Post Triple Bypass Surgery?
My 81 year old father had triple bypass surgery two and 1/2 weeks ago. We have been told by the doctor he has a hole in his lung that has not healed. He still has a chest tube because of this hole. The hospital wanted to send him to a cardio rehab nursing home with a chest tube. None of the nursing homes would accept him. Why is there still a hole in his lung and why is it taking so lung for it to heal?
I would have prefered to know about how exactly the hole in the lung was created. Was it through surgery? Or was it just found on an x ray?
I doubt there should be an iatrogenic hole created in the lung through the triple bypass surgery, and if at all there was hole created sometime during any surgery, then this should have healed. If it hasn't then factors like poor blood circulation, poor blood glucose profile, etc; should be suspected.
Best wishes.
