How Long The Infant Should Not Be Moved After Having A Brain Fracture?
Hi, my 19-month old son had an unfortunate accident falling from an adult height. He s got a skull fracture (about 4 cm long) on the left side and there was a small amount of internal bleeding underneath the fracture but not significant for surgery. We ve been in a hospital for monitoring for the last 12 days. He seems fine in every way not showing any worring symptoms like vomitting or seizure. The thing is that this accident happened while we are overseas. My question is when is safe enough for him to fly out. The doctor looking after him said that it might take 3 months for the fracture to heal and he s reluctant to give any date for journey home. I guess it s best if we can fly out when his skull fracture has completely healed but in reality we d like to get second opinions on when is the earliest without risking pressure problem. Will greatly appreciate your advice.
19-month-old with skull fracture whether ear is involved any blood from ear. Better to wait until 3 months till fracture heals and get checked by ENT so that his both ears are fine which is essential as they are balancing organs.
