hi dr, i m 39 year old n last 2 years m taking vildagliptin plus metformin i.e.50+500 but one of my good friend ( physician) suggest instead of vil+met combination u take glimperide+met . i just want to know hw u compare with glim+met ? n wht dose u will recommand?
I have gone through your query. You are taking Vildagliptin and metformin for last years. If your blood sugar level is well maintained with this combination, then you should continue with this. There is no need to shifting to glimeperide. If blood sugar level or glycated Hb is high then you can add glimeperide to present medicine. There is usually no comparison between the two. Glimeperide is usually given as first line in Diabetes. Initially we start with Glimeperide, then add metformin and then vildagliptin or sitagliptin depending upon the control of sugar level. 50+500 is good for and no need to change it.
