Welcome to Healthcare Magic Avoid eating chalk or anything not meant to be eaten as this can damage your stomach and other organs causing ill health. Pica can be a behavioral disorder but can sometimes indicate iron or mineral, nutrient deficiency. It would be best to get a thorough workup looking for calcium, magnesium, iron deficiency, also stool tested for parasites. You may need to consult a Psychiatrist as Pica has been linked to Obsessive Compulsive Disorder as well. You should eat healthy, avoid junk food. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Drink plenty of water. Do brisk walking everyday for 40 minutes to keep fit. Get 6-8 hours of sleep a day. Avoid much stress by Yoga, Pranayam.
Hi
Welcome to healthcare magic forum
1. Chalk used for writing on blk boards is GYPSUM ( cacium sulphare), it can cause mechanical irritation of your stomach and gut, causing it to erode. This eroded part of stomach may get infected or ulcerated later on.
2. It absorbs water, so eating chalk can cause constipation, with dry stools, may be anal fissure if its untreated.
3. Craving for chalk indicates iron deificiency, if untreated, it can cause other problems. You can look up for anemia and its long term effects.
4. Chalk may contain parasites, so you can get it worm infestation .
Takecare.
