Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What dosage should I take of the red yeast? I am a healthy 58 year old, who exercises everyday, am a vegetarian but my cholesterol is 245, my LDL is 013 and my HDL is 132. It was recommended I start taking red yeast but not sure of how much. Any help would be appreciated. PS I also take Fish Oil, Coconut Oil and Chia seed everyday. Jacqueline
Red yeast is the product of rice fermented with a type of mold. Red yeast is taken orally helps to maintain desirable cholesterol levels in healthy people and reduce cholesterol in people with high cholesterol.
In persons with high cholesterol, it is recommended to take red yeast once or twice daily for up to 24 weeks.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
