How Much Sleep Do Children Really Need?

I have 2 young children. One is 4 years old, the other is 2 and 1/2. Both are boys. We have to get them up at 5:30 every morning to go to daycare. They are getting on average 8 and 1/2 hours to 9 hours of sleep per night. Is this stunting their growth? Are there any other adverse impacts that I should be concerned about? Thanks.
