How Risky Is Antibiotic Resistance After Discontinuing Azithromycin?
I've taken 2 days of azinthromycin 5-day pak. How great of a risk is antibiotic resistance if I stop now? The doctor prescribed it with a disclaimer that she's not sure I need it because I may have the flu. Now I think that's the case and some of the side effects leave me feeling worse than my original symptoms.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain antibiotic resistance does not take place at the first instance of taking antibiotics and is commonly seen in case if you take the antibiotics frequently as well as irregularly and does not maintain proper dosage and course.. As you have taken 2 days course of Azithromycin and you have side effects then you can discontinue the same and consult your physician and he can advise you anti-allergics like Benadryl. But in case if there are no serious side effects and you are able to take the antibiotic my suggestion would be to continue taking the antibiotic as it will help in preventing secondary bacterial infection..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
