How Safe Are Tattoos In High Bp Patients?

I've been on Atenolol 50 MGs for about 6 months now for high blood pressure and fast resting heart rate. I was going to get a tattoo then decided to look into if I can get a tattoo with high blood pressure and being on the Atenolol 50 MG. Is this safe?

Hello,

Thank you for posting your query on HCM.
Atenolol or hypertension is not a contraindication for getting a tattoo. Only if you are taking medicines for blood thinners , then there is a risk of bleeding.
You might have a racing heart and an elevated blood pressure if the pain of the procedure is intolerable. It would pass.
You are welcome to ask more queries if you have any.

HI
Thanks for posting your query to Healthcaremagic.

Actually there is no restriction for getting Tattoo in Hypertensive patients. But you need to know that if the procedure is painful then it may raise your Heart rate and Blood pressure .

So make sure your Blood pressure and heart rate are brought under control before getting the tattoo . Also if the procedure is painful or if your tolerance for pain is very less then better you don't get it .

Hope this answers your query.
Any clarifications or Queries feel free to ask.
Happy to help you.
Regards.
