How Safe Is Nitrofurantoin For Diverticulitis ?

will nitrofurantoin treat diverticulitis. I can not tolerate Cipro or Flagyl. I am desperate. Been having out breaks for over a year now....about every 3 months. In November 2012 I was informed I had a case of acute diverticulitis. They gave me Leviquin (sp?) in an IV in ER and then Cipro and Flagyl that I can not tolerate. Flagyl caused blood blisters in my mouth. Cipro caused stomach pain to be worse and sick stomach. I am afraid of one of the infected areas to rupture. Would appreciate your help.

Thanks for query.nitrofuration is not suitable for gastrointestinal anaerobes.as u mention you are not tolerating metronidazole(flagyl) and cipro.only available options are Amoxicillin-clavulanate or
Moxifloxacin .generally these are well tolerated.
