my mother 82 has had leukemia for twelve years but now she is having to get blood every two weeks is this because her bone morrow is not producing blood, also she takes Glevac for the leukemia and I understand it also depletes her cells. Does this mean she has no hope for the future or how long can she continue getting blood.
Hi, dear I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. First of all please tell me the type of leukemia. Glevac is useful in chronic myeloid leukemia only. So if your mother have chronic myeloid leukemia she can take glevac. Her bone marrow is not producing the cells show she may need external transfusion. Her future depend son type and stage of leukemia. Please send me her reports so that I can help you further.
