How Safe Is Taking Metformin For Metabolic Disorder?

I am newly diagnosed with Metabolic Disorder. I have been on Metformin for a week now. I am experiencing excessive sweating that soaks my clothes and hair within minutes. I can actually wring out my clothing. GROSS!! Is this from the metformin or what?
