How Safe Is Taking Oxycodone For 5 Years?

I have been taking oxycodone for over 5 years. I recently had a spinal fusion and am tapering off the drug. The drug makes me feel brain dead, constant head ache, migraines and outof it feeling. I am 61 years old and now taking 20mg a day. I want to just stop taking the meds.

Hello,
Thank you for your question and welcome to Health Care Magic. I read your query and I understand your concern and the anguish that you are having.

To taper off the drug Oxycodone, you will need to see a Doctor. You can also take other medication other than the oxycodone which will not cause the headaches. A Doctor needs to examine you before the medication is changed. Also, do not stop taking the medication by yourself as this can also cause problems. Wishing you good health.

Hope this helps you. Feel free to clarify further.
