Eating certain foods seem to trigger atrial flutter for me - especially wheat. I do have a small haitil hernia, and regurgitate while eating sometimes. It seems as if my esophagus goes into a spasm before the flutter. I was diagnosed with IBS several years ago, and also have been treated for h pylori in the past. Could my stomach issues be the cause of my flutter. Should I ask my cardiologist about certain tests. He says I only have flutter, not fib. I am 56 year old female, 5'6", 128lbs. Take synthroid for Hypothyroidism, due to hashimoto. Some drs. say mitral valve prolapse, some drs say not..
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, I had gone through the given history, IBS is the functional kind of disease and it is not the pathology of any kind and some time effects of this could reflect on thoughts as you are saying that the certain food seems to trigger atrial flutter but as a matter of fact it is not true, whatever the diet you take that does not cause any effects on cardiac rhythm but of course could cause the hyperacidity and that may mimic the cardiac disease. You seems to have multiple medical conditions but non of them seems to be serious one so no need to worry about this but try to come out of the stress. As you go for different opinion for the different and nonspecific complaint you may find the different opinions. Just take it easy and stop worrying. hope this information helps.
