My 20 year old daughter just got out of the hospital. they told her that she had an acute UTI with leukopenia. She had no symptoms of a UTI. Her main problem was lower back pain in the middle of her back. they gave us no answer for the low white count. I was wondering just how serious this is. It was around 1500, but now is 2600.
Hi there, I understand your concern for your daughter. Low TLC is a cause of concern but her repeat count is increasing so it could be because of simple viral fever, I would advise my patients with your profile to get a complete blood count with blood picture examination to look for other blood cells and abnormal cells and would repeat count after one week and if it remains persistently low then only I look for other causes like vitamin deficiencies , autoimmune disorders or some form of blood cancers. so you can ask your physician to repeat count and blood picture after 1 week and if it is normal then there is no cause of worry
hope this answer your quarry, if you have further quarry then please write to me wishing good health for your daughter Dr Rajesh K Meena
