How Serious Is Left Inguinal Hernia Problem?

i am 38 yrs old, 63 kg wt. & have a problem of left inguinal hernia problem since childhood. earlier i thought its a normal phenomenon but now i came to know that its a hernia problem.
i have never consulted any doctor regarding this.
pl. advice me what to do & pl. let me know , who is the best doctor for this to consult in delhi & what will be the approx. cost of treatment.
