How Should Typhim Be Stored?

Hello Can typhim (typhoid vaccine) be kept in around 10 to 12 degrees because this is the temperature my refrigerator shows. Also how long can it be kept in a room temperature because it loses its effectivness Lastly if kept out for several hours in a room temperature, does it become harmful?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello, Welcome to HCM!

Typhim( typhoid vaccine) needs to be stored at 2-8 degree celsius. It should not be frozen or kept at a temperature higher than the one mentioned above. If its not stored at that temperature, then it could lose its efficacy very quickly. This loss of efficacy would be shown by a change in the colour of the vaccine and accumulation of deposits or particulate matter. The syringe( if any), could be kept outside, in the carton, to protect it from lighting.

Hope this helps.
