How Should A Reconstruction After Skin Sparing Mastectomy Be Done?
I am having reconstruction after skin sparing mastectomy. It doesn t appear as though much skin was saved. I want the largest implants available since i m a larger woman and was a size G. My doctor wants to fill my expanders to 740 then wait 2 months for the exchange. Everything I ve read says to over expand by 10% not under expand. I m concerned he will not have enough skin left to move the incision he created about three inches above my breast fold, into the fold, and I will have a scar above the fold.
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor services. I have read your query and here is my advise.
* There are release fold or zap techniques of undermining the subcutaneous fat and getting extra amount of skin for reconstructive purpose in the cosmetics very precisely.
* So do not worry about the same and discuss about this in details with your cosmetic specialist during your next visit.
Wish you best recovery and health.
Thanks. Dr Bhagyesh
