How Should A Thigh Hematoma Which Reoccurs Be Treated?

Hi, Mmay I answro health quriesright ow ? Please type your query here...My 40 year old son had an automobile accident in January and was left with a hematoma on his upper thigh. We took him to an orthopedic surgeon and three times he has drained the hematoma. The hematoma has now grown to soccer ball size and the doctor says he will need to MRI it to decide further treatment. I am very, very concerned. How serious is this, and are we seeing the correct type of doctor? Would a general surgeon be preferable to this one? Thanks.
