Hello, I have a questions about a contraceptive pill. I was on one for several years, but then I was away for a while and couldn t get more of the pill so I had to stop taking it in late December. I now obtained more pills, but not sure whether I can start straight away or need to wait till the first day of my period? I haven t actually had a period since I stopped taking a pill yet. Not pregnant. Thank you for your time, Alina
In everyday contraceptive pills, there are 28 pills -- 21 active pills and seven inactive pills which don't contain any hormones.
You should start taking active pills from the first day of your periods for 21 days and then the inactive pills for the next seven days. You can continue the next strip like this.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Prabhash Verma,
