How Should Diverticulosis, Diarrhea With Reflux Be Further Treated?
yes, I had a colonoscopy followed up by a barium and was diagnosed with dirvirtulosis . I believe this is a pouch in the colon. At present I have had diahrea for 5 days and my family doctor said it was dirvirticulosis. However I have not had any pain or vomiting. I have reflux to which I take Losec , which I know can cause some diahrea. He put me on antibiotics . what should my next step be?. I watch my diet and in the past have had regular bms sometimes 3 a day
Since you are a known case of diverticulitis, the possible cause of diarrhea can be infection in the diverticulum and get okay with proper courses of an antibiotic, metronidazole and probiotics. CT scan of the abdomen can tell if there is diverticulitis that is infection in the pouch in colon as you have correctly mentioned. Get stool tests for a few days. Tests of blood can tell about raised WBC count and also get blood sugar, liver functions. Further treatment as per the findings can help you to get rid of the present problem. Stop the foods and beverages that instigate or enhance the problems.
Take care.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
